I am still trying to locate a copy of this document: Garland v. Higgins, 160 tenn. 381, (: , circa 1929). This lawsuit was first tried in Unicoi and eventully went to the higher court. I was told this information is on-line, however I have been unable to find the post.
Any suggestions how to get a copy of a will filed after 5 Aug 1887? The lady in the court house tells me they cannot copy this will. Thanks.
Hello. I am writing from Springfield, VA, which is a suburb of Washington, DC. My mother is from Johnson City, TN and previous generations lived in Erwin. Is there a local historian I can talk with about some family stories I wanted to check on? Many thanks!
I am doing some family research, does anyone know where I can find a list of past sheriff's for Unicoi County?
i am looking for information of 2 of my direct ancestors from washington co , holland and margaret higgins . Iam also looking to see if there was a cherokee or other native tribe connection to them . We need your help! My husband and I bought this house 9 years ago, and we have been searching for an old photo of it ever since then. It was built by Dr. J.I. Bradshaw in 1919 and is located on Gay St. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you! :)
Congratulations on a most successful Unicoi County Apple Festival 2018. Those visitors who did NOT visit the Historical Society booth missed out on fabulous opportunities for titles about Unicoi County history....many now out of print. Start planning for next year!
According to the death certificate for my husband's grandfather James Higgins (info provided by his brother-in-law,) his parents were H. H. Higgins and (D. K.) I believe the DK stands for don't know Hesley. I have been seeking his parents full names for years, James was born in September 20, 1883 in Unicoi County, Tennessee. He died in Carbon Glow, Kentucky as a result of a coalmine accident on April 19, 1929. My mother-in-law and some siblings were put in a children's home in 1936 as her mother died of cancer. I would really appreciate either/or Jimmy's birth record or his parents marriage record. Thanks, Martha
