We will be open today ! The stories of the past inform the challenges of today. Hoping to read more of the stories and share the history of the valley with our guests.

Recently came across my grandmother’s old bible given to her in 1909 when she was 14 years old. She grew up in Kansas and Missouri. A quote she shares in the front page of the bible is from the poet and essayist Oliver Wendell Holmes. Wishing fair winds and good progress for our brave firefighters on the LIttle Giant Fire. And though the quote is a call to action in spite of difficulties , remember that Rest and Recuperation is not idleness, but necessary and so very important to health and happiness. Thank you to our brave firefighters, and leaders of the teams doing the very best that can be done in the rough and steep terrain of the Entiat Valley.

“The great thing in the world is not so much where we are, as in what direction we are moving. To reach the port of Heaven we must sail, sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it; but we must sail, and not drift or lie at anchor. “

Phyllis and I decided to close due to smoke, and besides there are many concerns. Our hearts and thoughts go to our neighbors and friends whose homes are at risk, and for the firefighters. Stay safe all.

The museum is now closed due to smoke and the concern for the fire. Stay safe everyone.

On Saturday, when the skies were still blue, we had a very nice visit and donation of artifacts from Pat Russell Richardson, daughter of Babe and Myra Russell. Phyllis Griffith is a friend of hers from earlier times. I was so thankful for her to be with me at the museum to accept the items. The stories of our past are touched with both joy and pain.

Although we are postponing our Music at the Museum, we are open , as long as the skies are blue.
