We are thrilled to have two more “mystery photos” featured in this week’s East Penn Press. Unlike the photos that were featured in our last mystery photo post, we do not have any information on these photos and are looking for any info you may have. One lesson we should continue to learn from all of this is to label photos for future generations. Thank you to all who have responded so far. If anyone can be of further assistance on these new “mystery photos”, please email Andrew Kerstetter at [email protected].

We are thrilled to once again feature three “mystery photos” in this week’s East Penn Press. Unlike the photos that were featured a few weeks ago where we were unable to get any additional info, these photos have prompted numerous responses. So far, we have identified the girl pictured as Beatrice Gehman of EHS class of 1939. We have also identified the teacher photo as one from Lower Macungie Township Elementary School and now have the names of half of the teachers pictured in the photo. Lastly, we now have three different answers on the photo of the house so we are still trying to verify that one plus the rest of the teachers in the school photo. One lesson we should continue to learn from all of this is to label your photos for future generations. Thank you to all who have responded so far. If anyone can be of further assistance, please email Andrew Kerstetter at [email protected].

During these times of “staying home”, many of us are organizing and cleaning our homes. The Emmaus Historical Society will always welcome memorabilia related to Emmaus. Here are a few samples of ephemera that have often been discarded in the trash. Remember, what may be your trash could be our treasures. When in doubt, please give us what you are possibly throwing out.

We had a full house! The Emmaus Historical Society recently held their May Program, “2009 Anniversary Celebration - A Look Back.” The presentation was filled with fond memories and stories by 2009 Anniversary Steering Committee members Dr. Mike Waddell, Teri Sorg McManamon and Roger Whitcomb. A special appearance was made by 2009 Town Crier, Rich Chartrand. Photos from the year long celebration included side comments from Project Team Leaders Kathy Schlosser Mintzer, Gene Clock and Richard Musselman, who shared their experiences. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Impromptu visit to the Historical Society today... Beautiful building, lovely collection! From one Historical Society (Spring-Ford Area Historical Society) to another Thank You for continuing to preserve your local History!
My family had a wonderful time, enjoying An Old Fashioned Christmas in Emmaus today. Our son really enjoyed the snacks and crafts at the 1803 House and the Shelter House. He especially loved meeting the REAL Santa (Santa was perfect!!) at The Shelter House. It was an awesome day in my hometown! Thank you!
