Elmwood is located on Nebraska Hwy. 1 in southeast Nebraska, just 40 minutes from Omaha (take Hwy. 50 south to Hwy. 1) or 20 minutes from Lincoln (take Hwy. 34 east to Hwy. 1). The Aldrich Foundation is seeking volunteers to help preserve and promote the life and works of Bess Streeter Aldrich. As a key community attraction and provider of many cultural and education events, we need your help. First and foremost, we need tour guides. The attached flyer outlines the guide opportunities and an upcoming training on Friday, October 16. There are many other opportunities to volunteer. Review the following list and get in touch with the director if you have questions or want to pursue one of the volunteer roles ([email protected] or [email protected]):

Today, it is our pleasure to recognize the Oxbow Quilters from Ashland who also provided quilts for our "Celebrating the Family Quilt Show" at the Aldrich House. Their quilts are among the 107 quilts on display from various quilt guilds from across Nebraska.

The Celebrating the Family Quilt Exhibit continues at the Bess Streeter Aldrich House. We thank quilt guilds from across Nebraska for sharing their talents. Today, we feature quilts shared by the quilt guild from Gordon, Nebraska. Take a peek and then come see them and the other 100 quilts in person.

Theater Camp concluded today with a performance at the Christian Church. Our thanks to Directors Emma Jorgenson and Ryan Furlong for providing a wonderful experience for the 15 campers.

You're invited!

Friday, July 24, at 11 a.m. the children attending theater camp at the Bess Streeter Aldrich House this week will perform "Meadows Entertains a Celebrity." This short story was adapted from Mrs. Aldrich's book The Cutters, which is celebrating its 100th birthday! The performance will take place at Elmwood Christian Church located at 311 5th Street, and admission is free!

The last two days children have participated in vocalization exercises, learned staging techniques, prepared props, and rehearsed lines. We are extremely grateful to the Berniece M. Hopper Private Foundation and the Syracuse Library Foundation for their support. See you there!

Under the amazing leadership of teachers Emma Jorgenson and Ryan Furling, theater camp was off to a great start at the Bess Streeter Aldrich House. Today, campers met new friends, played games, enjoyed snack, read the script for Friday's performance, and auditioned for roles.

Everyone is invited to their performance at Elmwood Christian Church at 11 am on Friday, July 24. It is free.
