The irony of this is maddening. Check out this article by Elmira native, Hannah Rothstein, about how she lost her art to Hurricane Helene when it hit her studio in Asheville, NC.

Asheville, North Carolina, was supposed to be relatively safe from climate-related disasters. Then it flooded.

Lines, Layers, and Levels!

There's several ways to approach rendering an image. One is like an electronic printer, rendering completely each line or zone before moving to the next line. Another one, is like splashing onto a page, or a space, and filling it with the suggestions of where things could be. I'm kind of a splasher, and in an attempt to counter my natural proclivities, I try really hard to be a printer.
It is such a great honor and opportunity to paint on Meals on Wheels of Chemung County 's wall!

Utilizing the 'doodle grid' method is a helpful technique that allows me to transfer my design from a little area (computer screen) to a big area (760 sqft wall). It is a popular method among some mural artists!

Learning Photoshop during the pandemic, actually it was Gimp at the time, really has been something that has enriched my life. I love opening the first chapter of any bit of knowledge, whether it's home improvement or pagan ritual continuity, because with that first initiative I have taken from life one of its many fruits, and it becomes something that I can always come back to for its sweetness. #somo #neverbored #elmirany #flx
