The Wanapum Native American Discovery Unit (WNADU) is part of the Wanapum Heritage Center. The WNADU is a custom motor home that brings the Wanapum history and culture to you. Learn who the Wanapum are, what foods they eat, about their way of life, what is important to them, and how they maintain their culture.

Inside the WNADU visitors can view a miniature of the Old Priest Rapids Wanapum Village and many other Wanapum artifacts.

Happening Wednesday! Beisboleros: The Early History of Latino Baseball Players in the United States, 1868-1930 Exhibit Opening Reception and Curator's Talk

Talk begins at 5:40 p.m.

Celebrate the opening of the MCE’s newest exhibit, Beisboleros: The Early History of Latino Baseball Players in the United States, 1868-1930, highlighting the stories of some of the first Latino players in American baseball.

Hear from curator Gilberto Garcia (CWU Political Science) and enjoy baseball themed refreshments at this free event.

Co-sponsored CWU Latino and Latin American Studies.

Gilberto Garcia (Ph.D., Political Science, University of California, Riverside, 1986) is an Associate Professor of Political Science and affiliate of the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies at Central Washington University. His publications on Latinas/os in the United States include “Louis ‘Count’ Castro: The Story of a Forgotten Major Leaguer,” published in Nine: A Journal of Baseball and Culture and “Beisboloeros: Latin Americans and Baseball in the Pacific Northwest, 1914-1937” in Columbia: The Magazine of Northwest History.
