The Work Horse Barn Inc supplied some unique antique pieces of equipment at Iowa State Fair farm team draft horse show on Aug 14th. We had a bundle wagon that the sides fold up or down. Folded down, the wagon would haul wheat bundles from the field to a threshing machine that would separate the wheat from the straw. Dirk Metcalf pulled a Moline 26A 2 wheeled sulky plow that has a wheel driven lift assistance. Branden Harp pulled a 2 row Dain corn cutter. This was used to cut the stalk including the ear for harvest.

Please joins us at the Old Iron Show in September. This year the Iowa Massey Collectors will be showcasing their tractors.

The horse area will be demonstrating putting up loose hay into the hay mow, binding corn, plowing dirt, and giving free horse drawn wagon rides around the show.

Unfortunately, our potato patch suffered from too much rain directly after planting. That's farming... There's always next year lol.

This year's wheat harvest is a good one!!!! We are using a John Deere grain binder. Be sure to come to the Old Iron Show in September to watch us separate the wheat grain from the stem with a McCormick Deering thresher. Then we will bale the straw with a Ann Arbor hay press.

It is with great sadness that we are announcing Jerry Weibel, our main benefactor who shared our passion with the history of horses and horse drawn equipment, has passed on.

We will be forever grateful for his heartfelt generosity and his legacy will live on thru the Work Horse Barn, located at Eldon IA fairgrounds.

Our hearts go out to Jerry's family.

Breaking up the ground on the potato patch. Planted them almost 3 weeks ago, got rain for the next week. Made the ground like concrete.

The taters are starting to peek thru in places.

I know..... suppose to plant taters on Good Friday. But we want to demonstrate digging them up last weekend in September, during Old Iron Show with horse drawn potato plow.

Vintage vehicle farm team class at the Royal KC Draft Horse Show. Tony Garrett and Josh Winkler got 2nd driving 4 abreast on the road grader. My buddy Branden Harp got 1st pulling a McCormick Deering Daisy Reaper. The reaper was used for cutting wheat that would be gathered and taken to a threshing machine.
