It's time for another vintage recipe taken from one of the many recipe books in our El Segundo History Room collection. This month the featured recipe is from a past community service organization, Quota Club. Our featured baker is Mary Meeker. Mrs. Meeker was best known as one of the ladies who owned and operated the Village Gift Shop located in the Mariposa Village Shopping Center. Mrs. Meeker and her partner, whose name escapes me, were friends and next door neighbors while living on Washington St. The Village Gift Shop was always a place as kids you could go to buy your mom a gift and these women would usually know what our moms would like as well as help you out if you didn't have enough money to cover the cost. So let's give this recipe a whirl. If you bake the cookies, let other know your review. Or post your memories of Mrs. Mary Meeker.
