The El Paso Museum of Archaeology (EPMArch) presents 14,000 years of prehistory in the El Paso area, the greater Southwest, and northern Mexico. You’ll see dioramas and exhibits of American Indian lives and their material culture from the Paleoindian hunters of the Ice Age to their modern Indian descendants. The exhibits are periodically changed to reflect the scope of the museum's collections and

the interests of the community. Special changing exhibits are located in the auditorium where lectures, family programs, and events are held. Walk nature trails on our 15 acres with more than 250 varieties of Chihuahuan Desert native plants, outdoor exhibits and an Indian Garden. A gazebo is available for rent for family picnics and small group activities.

EPMArch is super excited to announce our FIRST Book Club!!! Join us as we introduce the book club’s first book “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer.

In this first meeting, we will discuss what book club is about, some guides to enhance our reading experience and begin reading! We will meet again in September to discuss all the things we love about the book once we’ve read it! We can’t wait! 🤓

Mini archaeologists, it’s time for Discovering Nature! This month, let’s see what makes our Chihuahuan Desert Animals different! Learn the differences between what they eat, when they are active, and even if they spend time with other animals! Join us as we discover these animal traits through sorting, an animal scavenger hunt, and game camera bingo! See you there!

✨Homeschool Days are back at the El Paso Museum of Archaeology! Join us in learning about what’s left behind for archaeologists to study!✨

This semester of Homeschool Days will be focused on the various artifacts and archaeological features that help tell the story of the past. This topic will be split into four sessions this fall.

📅August 13 & 14 – Perishables and Basketry
📅September 10 & 11 – Lithics (Stone Tools)
📅November 12 & 13 – Pottery
📅December 3 & 4 – Features and Rock Art

There are four time slots for each session:
⌚Thursday Mornings (9:00am-11:30am)
⌚Thursday Afternoons (1:30pm-4:00pm)
⌚Friday Mornings (9:00am-11:30am)
⌚Friday Afternoons (1:30pm-4:00pm).

Registrations for August and September will open on July 28th, with the other sessions following at a later date.

🦗📢”Insect Identification Workshop”📢🦗

We had sooo much FUN at Insect Night, how about more insects?!?

Join us for our first Insect Identification Workshop with Braulio Sanchez! In this workshop, you will learn how to identify insects in our Chihuahuan desert in both English and Spanish. We will start with an introductory discussion followed by a hike on the museum grounds. During the hike we will show you how to use the iNaturalist app as an aid for insect identification. After the hike, we will head to the classroom for an introduction to nature journaling where you will learn to draw your favorite organisms!
