Shown here is a a photo of Decoration Day recognition in Potwin, Kansas here in Butler County in 1912. The older men in the photo are Union Veterans.

Thank you for all of the concern from those of you who reached out today. We were very fortunate that the damage we sustained in last night’s storm was not any worse. We will miss the shade of this large tree but glad it fell towards sturdy pumping units & a fixable fence versus our historic Oil Boom Town! We are now awaiting the tree crew to come & clean it up. Until all hazards are removed the outside areas will be closed to the public. The inside exhibits are open and a perfect location to spend a rainy day. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow. We anticipate the grounds opening tomorrow as well. 316/321-9333.

Hello. Some of us from the History of El Dorado FB page were wondering if the museum knows where the El Dorado Times photo archives ended up? Do you have them? We hope they are safe and preserved! Thank you for any information you can provide.
Does anyone know the location of the Cherokee Trail in the area of the Brownlow cemetery? The original GLO Survey shows the trail taking a small semi-circle, which I assumed to be around that knoll, but looking at the maps closer, it seems it might be north of there?
Thanks for a great time today!
Free program for children who struggle to read. Registration ends 5/31. Please share.
Great glow-in-the-dark tee-shirts. Exclusive only to the Kansas Oil Museum.
What an amazing place with a staff that really cares about their mission. We need more treasures like this museum! I for one plan to do everything I can to help them, especially with their fantastic photographic archive- bringing it to life so that those that are still alive can see and comment on the images for future generations. Without an understanding of history what hope is there for future generations to know what to do in the future? If you don't know where you are going, any path takes you there.
