"Often an artist is not fully aware of the gravity their storytelling brings to the canvas. They are essentially a vehicle compelled to create as a release of energies both conscious and subconscious that cannot be contained.”

Zach Gallery is delighted to announce that our next exhibition, BRETT DAY WINDHAM: Gathering the Chesapeake, will open on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The evening will begin at 5:00 PM with an Artist Talk moderated by Charlotte Potter Kasic, Director of the Academy Art Museum, followed immediately by a reception with the artist.

For Gathering the Chesapeake, Windham utilized flora and fauna specimens from the Chesapeake Bay watershed collected by Zach Gallery, the Academy Art Museum, and students from The Gunston School. Combining these specimens with research on growth zones and open-source imagery, she conjured a vision of the Eastern Shore of Maryland before ever visiting the region in person.

In addition to the exhibition, the community is invited to engage personally with the artist and her process during a workshop at the Academy Art Museum in Easton. For workshop details please visit https://academyartmuseum.org/brett-day-windham-magical-cyanotype/

About the Artist:
Brett Day Windham (born in Cambridge, England, raised in Providence, Rhode Island) is a multidisciplinary artist currently working with cyanotype. She received a BFA from Hampshire College, a certificate in painting from SACI in Florence, Italy, and an MFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
