Hi! We are in need of 3-4 more volunteers for our annual Tales of the Towpath field trips at the Freemansburg Canal Education Center. They take place Oct. 2-20. Volunteer one or two days a week, or more if you'd like. We train you, provide costuming and then watch you enjoy yourself. It is truly a satisfying experience. We host 1,000 fourth-grade students from Bethlehem Area School District. You will have one responsibility, so you don't have to learn everything there is to know about canals and canal history. WE HAVE A REAL NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS IN OUR HEIRLOOM GARDEN. Contact me through Facebook or call 610-923-3548 x225. HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU. If you know any retired teachers, send them our way.

We are in need of a volunteer for our upcoming Tales of the Towpath field trips in Freemansburg who can teach a children's art lesson on how to draw a mule, using shapes and shading. Tales of the Towpath artist Dennis Gerhart will provide one-on-one training and will also help on October 2, the first day of the field trips. This is a three-week gig, so we are looking for more than one person to share the duties. Hope you can help. The students (fourth grade) LOVE this lesson. Send email to [email protected] or call 610-923-3548 x225.

And a one, and a two, and a . . .
New Tales of the Towpath teachers from Bethlehem, Allentown, Parkland, Phillipsburg, and Lopatcong school districts and Lehigh Christian Academy learn how to make melodious sounds with a conch shell, just like canal boat captains did long ago. The teachers attended the D&L's annual Tales of the Towpath teacher training workshop on Tuesday in Hugh Moore Park, Easton. Conch instructor and D&L field trip guide, Barb Fritz, is on the far left.
