The countdown to the reopening of the 1753 Bachmann Publick House continues ⏳

Behind the scenes this week, staff members Emma and Tim have been hard at work weaving and installing rope into the historic rope beds throughout the house, while volunteers Mike and Chris have been reinforcing the bed frames as part of the ongoing preservation and exhibit preparation process.

It’s details like these — both hands-on preservation work and careful recreation of historic spaces — that are helping bring the Bachmann Publick House back to life ahead of reopening this July. We can’t wait for visitors to experience all of the work happening behind the scenes!

7 weeks until the reopening of the 1753 Bachmann Publick House

Behind the scenes, our team has been hard at work preparing the historic structure for its next chapter. Rooms are being cleaned, objects carefully rearranged, and spaces transformed as we get ready for the installation of an all-new exhibition experience sharing the stories of Northampton County in fresh and engaging ways.

Every table moved, artifact placed, and room prepared brings us one step closer to welcoming visitors back through the doors this July. We can’t wait for the community to see what’s taking shape inside one of Easton’s most iconic historic buildings.

Stay tuned as we continue the countdown to reopening day!

The countdown to reopening is on!

Behind the scenes at the 1753 Bachmann Publick House, we’ve been doing more than installing new exhibits — we’ve also been recording audio that visitors will hear throughout the experience.

These new sound elements will help bring the structure to life in a whole new way, allowing visitors to hear stories, voices, and moments of Northampton County history as they move through the space. From exhibit installation to audio production, our team has been hard at work creating a more immersive and engaging experience for reopening this July.

We can’t wait to share what’s been happening behind closed doors. Stay tuned as we continue the countdown!

It was a pleasure to welcome students from Nazareth Middle School to the 1753 Bachmann Publick House as they worked on their project about George Taylor in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.

Exploring historic spaces where the stories of our nation’s founding come to life is a meaningful way to connect students with the people and places that shaped American history. We were honored to be part of their learning experience and loved seeing their finished project come together.

One more look before something new begins.

This weekend is your chance to tour the 1753 Bachmann Publick House before we temporarily close our doors. Behind the scenes, our curators are already hard at work—installing an exciting new exhibit and reimagining the historic spaces. They are bringing real stories of Northampton County to life throughout the structure.

We’ll reopen on July 9 for the Members’ Opening: 1753 Bachmann Publick House & Book Launch. Public admission follows on July 11—and let’s just say… the structure is preparing to reveal a new chapter of its story.

Come experience it as it is now and get ready for what’s next.
