The Last Life In The Universe
A Solo Exhibition by Tae Lee
Wönzimer Gallery 341-B S Avenue 17, Los Angeles, CA 90031
Exhibition Dates: May 29 – June 27, 2026
Open Thursday - Sunday 12-7pm
Closing Reception & Artist Talk: Saturday, June 27 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

LOS ANGELES, CA – Wönzimer is proud to announce a new solo exhibition by artist Tae Lee, navigating between the illusory duality of the material and immaterial realm. .

This collection came into being as a process of the integration of mystic visions of a nondual reality into the perceived phenomena of a waking life. Lee offers a space for ontological contemplation on the classic existential challenges of sentient awareness within the future of supposed singularity.

Through his body of work, Lee investigates the apocalyptic tone of the day to day, each slice of life carrying the weight of the surreal ultraviolence of empire. Yet, despite the darkness, Lee beckons the viewer to transmute the chaos of the frontier into a path for self-actualization, not by denial, but by unification.

The paintings explore the eschatological tension between the internal and external versions of cataclysms, depicting the vital aliveness found in surrendering into both the death of the ego and the death of the world.

THERMIDORIAN REACTION Curated by Umar Rashid
Wönzimer Gallery
Opening Reception: Friday, July 17, 5 – 10 PM
Exhibition Dates: July 17 – August 14 2026
LOS ANGELES, CA – Wönzimer is proud to present Thermidorian Reaction, a group exhibition curated by Umar Rashid. Bringing together an extensive and global circle of artists, this show explores the volatile relationship between physical heat and the cycles of history.
The exhibition takes its name from the 1794 coup that ended the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. While the coup stopped the immediate bloodbath, it paved the way for Napoleon’s rise and a new era of control. Rashid uses this moment to highlight a messy truth: the end of one struggle is often just the beginning of the next. Like a Rubik’s Cube, history is constantly shifting; solving one side inevitably changes the rest in ways we cannot always predict.
Set in the peak of July, Thermidorian Reaction leans into the intensity of the summer. Rashid connects the literal heat of the month to a sense of social friction where energy and violence can feel strangely intertwined. The featured artists move beyond simple observations to offer different ways of looking at the world. They challenge us to see how "one becomes three" as our perceptions shift under the weight of a changing climate and a complicated past.

We are beyond excited to announce our participation in The Art Parade
LACMA | Wilshire Blvd | Sat, June 20, 2026 | 6 pm PT | FREE

The Art Parade is a large-scale public celebration marking the opening of the David Geffen Galleries. In a public procession on Museum Row/Wilshire Blvd, the parade showcases mobile sculptures, costumes, banners, inflatables, music, and movement-based works that activate public space through collective artistic expression.

Conceived two decades ago by influential art dealer and curator Jeffrey Deitch , The Art Parade ran annually in New York's SoHo from 2005 to 2008, bringing together more than 1,000 participants each year in a creative procession that transformed the streets into a living gallery.

This Los Angeles edition marks a pivotal moment in LACMA's history and for the city itself. The opening of the David Geffen Galleries culminates a two-decade campus transformation, with the new Peter Zumthor-designed building adding 110,000 square feet of gallery space and creating 3.5 acres of new outdoor public space at LACMA

The Art Parade both celebrates this cultural moment and underlines LACMA's longstanding commitment to celebrating artists, presenting art in public spaces, and engaging broad and diverse audiences.

The Art Parade is part of the Grand Opening Weekend, June 18–22.

The series of David Geffen Galleries opening events is presented by East West Bank. .art
The Block Party and Art Parade are presented by East West Bank Foundation.
