Los Angeles, September 12, 2022 The producers of Art as Activism, an independent documentary on Self Help Graphics & Art, and Sister Karen Boccalero are pleased to announce a
fundraiser on Saturday, September 24, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The evening's program will highlight Self Help Graphics' archives found during the film's research in the past year and a half that provide a window to the organization's fifty-year history through
ephemera, prints, and photographs that inform the breadth of the Chicano Art Movement, locally, regionally, and nationally.
The documentary will chronicle Self Help Graphics & Art under Sister Karen's leadership through interviews, archival footage, music, artworks, and ephemera, which grew into a nexus that
elevated and democratized art aspirations and became a model for artist-driven personal and community empowerment.

The Art as Activism documentary is an independent film produced by artists and filmmakers Gloria Westcott, Grace Amemiya, José Antonio Aguirre, and Alex Alferov. Self Help Graphics is a
liaison to its historical print archives but is not affiliated with the production of this film. Note: Any donations received in support of the Art as Activism film will benefit the production of this
documentary, not Self Help Graphics & Art.

This project is produced in collaboration with the Mexican Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, a 501(c) 3 a non profit corporation and all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent provided
by the law.
