Always free and open to all. The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University (MSU Broad Art Museum) connects people with art through experiences that inspire curiosity and inquiry. Presenting exhibitions and programs that engage diverse communities around issues of local relevance and global significance, the MSU Broad Art Museum advances the university values of quality, inclusio

n, and connectivity. Opened on November 10, 2012, the museum was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid and named in honor of Eli and Edythe Broad, longtime supporters of the university who provided the lead gift for its creation.

How much do you know about American history and government?

Originally inspired by artist Rayyane Tabet’s own experience preparing for the US citizenship exam, 128 Civics Questions unfolds across the museum and also extends outward across Michigan State University's campus, including the MSU Office for Inclusive Excellence and Impact, MSU College of Law, Michigan State University College of Communication Arts & Sciences, James Madison College at Michigan State University, Beal Botanical Garden, MSU Libraries, Michigan State University Museum, and the Michigan State University College of Music.

You’ll encounter questions that seem like philosophical inquiries—both familiar and out of place. In turn, you’re invited to reflect on your knowledge of American history and what it means to become American in our contemporary moment.

To prepare for this museum-wide installation, the MSU Broad Art Museum will be temporarily closed July 27–August 21, 2026. We look forward to welcoming you back on August 22 as we reopen with these new exhibitions on view.
