Now through Sunday, August 3rd, admission to the museum is only $1.25 🌅

It’s our way of saying thank you for letting us be a part of the community since our trolley line connected the shoreline towns of East Haven and Branford in 1900.

125 Years of Connection 🛤️

On July 31st, we proudly celebrated the 125th anniversary of the historic trolley line that first opened in 1900- the very same rails that run through the Shore Line Trolley Museum today.

What began as Connecticut’s first electric railway between the towns of East Haven and Branford has grown into a living monument to transportation history, and a powerful thread weaving our communities together for over a century.

Our celebration was filled with pride as museum dignitaries, volunteers, and supporters gathered with local leaders to honor this incredible milestone!

The day featured special remarks, trolley rides, and special exhibits that shared the deep history and impact of the line.

This wasn’t just a birthday, it was a celebration of connection. For 125 years, this line has moved more than people. It has moved stories, memories, and community spirit.

“The Derby” returns to Derby!

The Shore Line Trolley Museum helped the City of Derby, Connecticut celebrate their 350th anniversary! 🎉

We were proud to bring this little 4-wheel electric locomotive back to the streets it ran on over a century ago.

Created by electric railway pioneer Charles. Van Depoele, “The Derby” competed for local freight against the mighty steam locomotive- and won!

Today, the museum preserves this unique piece of history as the oldest surviving electric locomotive.

🛤️ Today, history takes root with thumbs of the future!

Nearly 100 students from Tuttle Elementary School joined us at the museum to plant seedlings they nurtured from the very beginning- thanks to materials provided by 🌱

Big shoutout to Master Gardeners Tony and Wendy, along with our incredible volunteers, for guiding these young gardeners each step of the way!

Here’s to growing curiosity, community, and a greener future- one seedling at a time. 💚

Congratulations to John Proto and everyone at The Shore Line Trolley Museum for winning the 2025 Branford Rotary MOMENTUM PRIZE during The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven's Great Give! 🏆💯

Branford Rotary awards the Momentum Prize annually to the Branford nonprofit that has the largest increase in individual donors from the previous year during the Great Give. The Trolley Museum saw a 140% increase in donors, and as result will be awarded $1,000 from Rotary.
