Did you know, George Washington’s army walked over the “old bridge” in East Brunswick’s Historic District? (At least, that’s what we’ve heard.) On Saturday, June 13, the Museum will celebrate the nation’s 250th Anniversary with a walk over the old bridge in the footsteps of Washington's army. We’ll be accompanied by fifes and drums! Meet at Emerson Street if you want to join us. The walk starts at 11am.

At the end of the walk, we’ll party like it’s 1776! at the Alice Appleby Devoe Memorial Library at 166 Main Street from 12pm-5pm. Learn about East Brunswick’s place in the American Revolution. Listen and dance to the music of Tommy Aboussleman’s 5-piece band, “Rebels for a Day.” Peek into East Brunswick’s historic first library. Kids crafts and activities will be available.

FREE sandwiches, snacks, and desserts will be provided by the Museum. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and make yourselves comfortable at our old-fashioned picnic. We can’t wait to see you!

To recognize the 250th Anniversary of our country, the Cornelius Low House presents a special exhibit called “Caught in the Crossfire” about the “Divided Loyalties” in Middlesex County that separated friends and families. The exhibit features several artifacts borrowed from the East Brunswick Museum, including arrowheads, an ax head and Native American pottery shards from an ancient vessel that dates back to 1000 CE. The shards were carefully reassembled by experts and will be returned to the Museum when the exhibit ends in December 2028. The exhibit also tells the story of the Battle of Bennett’s Island, which took place in what is now East Brunswick. Learn more about East Brunswick’s involvement in the American Revolution at the Museum’s History Walk and American Birthday Party on June 13!

The East Brunswick Museum congratulates Joseph O'Grady on achieving his Eagle Scout rank. For his project, Joseph revitalized a plot of Civil War veterans' graves at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, on the outskirts of Old Bridge Village. He cleaned the tombstones, restored metal bars surrounding the site, removed invasive weeds, and reconstructed the flagpole in the center of the plot. As preservation advocates, the museum appreciates this important work. Beyond this, the Scout and his family are volunteers at the museum's Cemetery Tour every October.

Thank you, Joseph. Well done!
