The Summer 2026 issue of the Wisconsin Magazine of History highlights with stories about the American Revolution through objects in our collection: a soldierโ€™s diary from 1776, a Revolutionary War powder horn, and symbols of the American Revolution in our Civil War envelope collection. To celebrate Old World Wisconsinโ€™s fiftieth year, former curator and best-selling author Kathleen Ernst shares memories from her years working at the site, which opened in July 1976.

You can check out these stories and learn more in this current issue of the Wisconsin Magazine of History published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.

We asked here on on social media on Saturday - guess how much the fleece weights from all 14 of the Old World Wisconsin sheep that were shorn in May:

How much raw wool do you think our sheep produced?
A- 68 pounds
B- 124 pounds
C- 151 pounds
D- 194 pounds

Surprise! Our sheep produced over 194 pounds of wool that will be washed, carded, dyed, and spun into yarn. You can help support critically endangered heritage breeds like our Cotswolds by purchasing yarn, wool, or fiber products at Old World Wisconsin or other farms!
