Spooky Stories tickets are now on sale!
Join DuPont Historical Society and Chris Staudinger for the haunted history of cryptids, aliens, and monsters from the region. There have been many iconic sightings of creatures in the PNW and we will dive into tales from Sasquatch to the sea serpent and see what shakes out.
Saturday, September 5th: The tent opens at 6:30 pm to get settled with refreshments, stories promptly at 7:00 pm.
Tickets are $5 until 8/31, no charge for children under age 12. Meet us under the tent at Clocktower Park, DuPont WA, and bring your own camp chair and a jacket!

Tomorrow the City of DuPont will be hosting the landing spot for the Nisqually Tribe's Canoe Ceremonial Landing along the beaches of Sequalitchew Creek Trail. During this historic event the DuPont Historical Society will be giving two guided tours of the 1843 Ft. Nisqually site, one at 10:30 and another at 1:30, where we will discuss the interactions the Nisqually Tribe had with the Hudson's Bay Company. Please note, if you are crossing Center Dr. to join the tour please use the pedestrian tunnel near the trailhead.
At the DuPont Museum on that same day we will have crafts for families to enjoy including painting your own miniature wooden paddle and making a button square. Kids can also practice weaving paper and attempt to weave their own basket. This event runs from 10am to 4pm so be sure to stop by while you're waiting for the canoes to land.
Both of these events are free for anyone to attend. Be sure to get out and enjoy this historic day!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Grand Opening reception for our two newest exhibits; "Through the Centuries in this Place", our display celebrating America 250 and how DuPont has evolved from the 1700s to 2026, and "First Steam on the Sound", our display discussing the first steamship in the Puget Sound the S.S. Beaver and its extensive history. If you missed the reception the displays are still up in the museum for everyone to enjoy!

Save the date for Dino Day at the museum, to celebrate our state dinosaur, Suciasaurus Rex. On August 8th from 1:30 to 3:30 we will have activities for families, including a fossil dig and scavenger hunt with prizes, craft projects, refreshments, and history for all ages. On July 31st the City of DuPont will be hosting the landing spot for the Nisqually Tribe's Canoe Ceremonial Landing along the beaches of Sequalitchew Creek Trail. This weekend we will having a grand opening reception for our two newest exhibits. Learn how the DuPont area has grown and evolved over the last 250 years with our "Through the Centuries in this Place" exhibit that celebrates America's 250th birthday.
Explore the story of the first steamship in the Puget Sound, the S.S Beaver. Hear the history of the ship from exhibit designer Jer Holms as he gives a talk on July 18 & 19 at 1:30.

Thank you to everyone one who came out to the 4th of July celebration last Saturday! The Pancake Breakfast in the morning was a success due to all the people who came out to start the morning with pancakes served by our wonderful volunteers.
Thank you to all the parade participants who gave us a parade worthy of America's 250th birthday! The parade has been a massive part of the 4th of July celebrations in DuPont for years since 1970. In 1976, the City organized a larger parade to celebrate the Bicentennial that went down Barksdale Ave. This years parade was one of the largest we have had with participants from across the state and helps show how large this celebration has grown in the last 50 years.
