We're adding another beading class at the Sandhills Heritage Museum in Dunning!

Join us on Sunday, October 25th, for an afternoon of learning about the history, traditions, and craftsmanship behind the art of beading! Whether you're a beginner or looking to expand your skills, this is a great opportunity to learn something new while appreciating the history behind these time-honored techniques.

Class Schedule:

2:00–3:00 PM | Moccasin Construction (Bring two brown paper bags)

3:00–4:00 PM | Beading Stitches & Designs

Registration: $15 for youth and $20 for adults, including supplies. Payment is due before class begins. To register for the event please contact Vickie Webb at (308) 880-0242.

Get creative with us at the Sandhills Heritage Museum!

Join us on Sunday, October 11, from 2:00–4:00 PM for an Introduction to Beading class with Irene Ihm! Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this is a great opportunity to learn new skills, explore the art of beading, and create something uniquely yours!

Participants can choose to bead moccasins, denim, or jewelry!

Cost: $15 for youth | $20 for adults
All supplies are included, and payment is due the day of the class.

Katelyn and Kylee from Visit Nebraska stopped by the museum recently, taking photos for some promotions of area attractions.

We have had items donated for the museum available during Junk Jaunt. There are unique old bits, old pictures, railroad spikes, and many, many house plants. We certainly appreciate the museum friends that are so thoughtful towards the care and upkeep of the museum. Items are located at the #1 stop, Brando’s Bunkhouse 312 Cowles, Dunning. West side of football field. Many other treasures there as well including vintage guns!

The museum was busy this past weekend. Travelers taking advantage of the good weather stopped by for photos with the Wonder Nebraska Passport Tour sign. Others came to Dunning to view the Tipi across the street. But the highlight of the weekend was a visit from the Nebraska Hereford Queen, Paisley Musil.
Paisley spent a considerable amount of time viewing the Hereford Crossroad exhibit.
The Nebraska Hereford Tour was in the Taylor area on Saturday then Sunday at the Hoffman Ranch near Thedford. Other Hereford folks stopped and enjoyed the information we have of the Hereford heritage, both cattle and individuals.
We look forward to having Paisley return for another visit!

The metal image of Golden Design 14 was unloaded at the museum this afternoon in anticipation of the Nebraska Hereford Tour taking place in the Taylor area Saturday then traveling to the Hoffman Ranch near Thedford on Sunday. We invite tour attendees to stop by and view our Hereford Crossroads exhibit.
This prized piece of art takes up some "stall" space as you enter the museum.
The museum will be open Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Stop by as we have many other interesting items to see.

The Nebraska Hereford Association will travel by Dunning this weekend. The museum will be open Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. We invite tour guests to stop by and see our Hereford Crossroads exhibit. We have Nebraska Hereford Heritage information dating back to 1933

The museum offers opportunities for people to try out their sewing skills. Vickie brought in her grandmothers sewing machine to make an apron.
The last photo is Ava Roseberry's machine that is currently on display. And yes, it too works very well.

Wrapping up the Yard of the Week for this summer season, we saved the best for last.
Jodi Anderson is the grounds keeper for the Sandhills High School at Dunning. The field is always in perfect condition for Jr. High and High School football.
Jodi works tirelessly during the week, maintaining the field. Players are safe from injury during both practice and games.
The community is proud of such a positive aspect of our town.
