The Yard of the Week sign has come back to Dunning. Wayne Bias has kindly offered space for the Tipi.
He maintains the area and has many items of interest in his home... formerly Pioneer Lumber and before that Gage Lumber Company. And many, many years ago the main building was a livery stable, but we are not certain of those years. We just know that it was a long time ago.
Waynes Cannas are specular this year. He says that there are currently four Hummingbirds feeding from them. Look carefully in the last photos and one is fluttering about.
Thanks Wayne, for your tireless effort to create a visual beauty in downtown Dunning.

The museum hosted on Sunday, a day of cultural enlightenment with Irene Ihm. Models embraced the cultural heritage of Nebraska's plains Indians.

Yard of the Week this week is actually a Pasture of the Week. These buffalo are located just to the south of Brewster.
The sign was put in place along the county road going south to Milburn.
Wise decision to not crawl through the fence with the sign.

The Sandhills Heritage Museum will be hosting Special Guests, Bill and Irene Ihm this Sunday August 23, 2026 1:00 to 4:00 in Dunning.
Come join us in an informal and informational display of handmade bead work, buckskin clothing , ceremonial headdresses and narratives of the customs and traditions of the Native Americans of the Plains by Irene. Bill will share his wealth of knowledge and expertise on the fundamentals of the tipi. Visit with our new found friends and share in future dreams and possible plans.

Just across the Blaine County line in Halsey is the lovely home of Mic and Mel Coffman and their pets Taz and Tacie.
The Coffman's have lived here 20 years.
The yard is huge! And very well kept. Many areas of interest abound.
These photos are a sample of the hours of work they have put into it!

Following the Village of Dunning -BQ last evening, Mayor Jill Cadwallader stopped by the Tipi to visit with Vickie Webb and others.
Vickie is the person responsible for acquiring this valuable piece of native history for all to enjoy. She has spent many hours researching Tipis.
Thank You Vickie for your community commitment.

The Village of Dunning is hosting a -BQ tomorrow evening in the Community Hall. 5 pm (Rain or shine.) Before or after the meal come see the historic tipi that the museum is proud to show off. Meet Bill and Irene, who helped us with placing it properly and giving us valuable information first hand.
And the gazebo has been restored. Stop by and take a look. Zona Collier would be proud.
See you all tomorrow!
