This photo was received from Gayle Eckelberg Ibarra. She is requesting more info as to the event, when it was taken, etc. Comnents appreciated.

From Gayle: “On the back it says “Bang Ranch, Ella Eckelberg riding side saddle, Anna Buehner driving buggy”. It’s a horse sale/auction of some sort. I date the photo between 1909 and 1917 by guessing who the young child might be, Richard Buehner, Henry Buehner or Mildred Eckelberg. Help with more information about the event or when the photo would have been taken would be appreciated.”

This message was received from Rose Marie Hoffer Gruidl. She shared photos of Paul Hoffer and the home he built in Werner and his blacksmith shop. Around 1925.

“Several years ago I made a memory book and gave it to the Dunn County Museum. It is the history of the Paul Hoffer family, who came from the Ukraine in 1910 and bulit a home in Werner in 1919. The house is still standing. Paul Hoffer was my grandfather and the Werner blacksmith. All of the Hoffer 9 children went to school there.”

This next town and team hail from the west central part of the state. The last high school senior class (10 students) graduated in 1961. The grade school portion of the building slowly dwindled from grades 1-8 to 1-4 before closing for good 10 years later. The town has been without its local school identity since then and few people younger than about 55 years old can even remember a time when there was a school located here.

The 3-story brick building stood on a hill on the northwest part of town and was eventually demolished in 1985. The former school grounds are occupied today by the county museum.

Some old rivals of this high school included Golden Valley, Dodge, Zap, Halliday, Killdeer, and Werner. Maybe we’ll see some of these down the line as this project keeps rolling along...

I would like to thank Cathy Trampe and the Dunn County ND Historical Society for their help in providing me some school history and logo and jersey photos to help make this one happen. I cannot understate the importance of some local folks everywhere who help me out with this project. This is OUR North Dakota history - and we need to remember it.

Making an appearance for the first time in 59 years, I’m honored to reintroduce you to the DUNN CENTER TROJANS!

Shirt sizes will be as follows:

Youth Medium & Youth Large up to Adult XL: $25 each
Adult XXL - Adult # # : $30 each
Shipping $10 extra per order unless otherwise noted.

3/4 and short sleeve options are available. While I imagine maroon will be the most popular sleeve color, gold sleeves will also be an option.

Comments and friend tags are welcome here, but PLEASE direct message me to place your order!

Thank you!
Good job Pam! Good to see the DCHS!!!
