🎨👻 CALL FOR ART! 👻🎨

Help us transform the Duluth Children’s Museum for Booseum!

This year, we’re inviting kids, families, classrooms, local artists, and community members to help us decorate the Museum for our favorite spooky season celebration! Create something kid-friendly, spooky, fall-inspired, silly, or just a little bit strange and it could become part of our October display.

🖌️ All kinds of art are welcome! Paint, draw, collage, stitch, sculpt with paper, or get creative with mixed media, just make sure your creation can be displayed on a wall or hung from the ceiling.

📅 Submissions accepted now through October 3, 2026
🖼️ Artwork will be displayed throughout October

Little artists, big artists, first-time artists, lifelong artists - we want to see what you create! Help us fill the Museum with community creativity and a little spooky-season magic. 🍂🕸️✨

⏰ New Daily Program Time! Our afternoon Daily Program is moving a little earlier! You can now join us each day at 10:30am & 1:30pm for 30 minutes of hands-on learning, creating, and exploring.

This Week at the Museum:

📖 Tuesday (10:30am & 1:30pm): Storytime – Listen, imagine, and join the fun as we share stories designed to get little readers thinking, talking, and wondering what happens next.

✂️ Wednesday (10:30am & 1:30pm): Rip, Cut, Glue: Collage! – Tear, snip, layer, and glue your way to a one-of-a-kind creation using a colorful mix of materials.

🕷️ Thursday (10:30am & 1:30pm): Spiders – Discover the fascinating world of spiders through hands-on activities, observations, and web-inspired exploration.

📦 Friday (10:30am & 1:30pm): Cardboard Creativity – Cut, build, design, and invent with one of our favorite creative materials—cardboard!

🌙 Friday (4–6pm): Member Stay Late Play Date – DCM members get extra time to play! Stick around for an evening of exploring the museum after regular hours.

🁢 Saturday (10:30am & 1:30pm): Domino Physics – Set up, test, and topple domino runs while exploring cause and effect, motion, and chain reactions.

There’s always something to discover at the DCM! Stop by at 10:30am or 2pm for a new 30-minute activity designed to get kids creating, experimenting, and exploring.

This Week at the Museum:

🌸 Tuesday (10:30am & 2pm): Tissue Paper Flowers – Layer, twist, and shape colorful tissue paper to create a garden of your very own.

🏗️ Wednesday (10:30am & 2pm): Design & Build – Dream it, build it, test it! Use a variety of materials to turn creative ideas into imaginative structures.

👐 Thursday (10:30am & 2pm): Sensory Exploration – Scoop, pour, squish, and discover with hands-on materials that encourage curiosity and open-ended play.

📖 Friday (10:30am & 2pm): Storytime – Gather together for a read-aloud filled with wonderful characters, new ideas, and plenty of opportunities to imagine along.

🧰 Saturday (10:30am & 2pm): Rigamajig – Build BIG with oversized pieces, bolts, ropes, and more while experimenting, problem-solving, and creating together.

All ages are welcome, and programs are included with admission (FREE for DCM members!).

🍂✨ Fall Drop-Off Workshops are HERE at DCM! ✨🍂

Friday nights just got a whole lot more fun! This fall, we’re bringing you a new hands-on workshop every month, with everything from bubbling experiments and creepy creations to kitchen adventures and handmade holiday keepsakes. Kids get an evening to create, explore, and try something new - and you can choose one favorite or join us for the whole series!

🫧 SEPTEMBER | Drop-Off Workshop: Bubble Science
Friday, September 11 | 5–7 PM
Pop, float, experiment! We’re diving into the science behind bubbles with hands-on experiments, bubble tricks, and creative bubble art.

👻 OCTOBER | Drop-Off Workshop: Creepy Crafts
Friday, October 9 | 5–7 PM
Things are getting spooky! Kids will create, craft, and let their imaginations run wild with some delightfully creepy projects.

👩‍🍳 NOVEMBER | Drop-Off Workshop: kids in the kitchen
Friday, November 13 | 5–7 PM
Time to get cooking! Kids will mix, make, taste, and explore their way through an evening of hands-on kitchen fun.

🎁 DECEMBER | Drop-Off Workshop: creative keepsakes
Friday, December 11 | 5–7 PM
Make it, wrap it, gift it…or keep it! Kids will create something special along with their very own stamped wrapping paper.

Designed for kids ages 5–10, these drop-off workshops include hands-on activities, a snack, and time to explore the Museum, all packed into two hours of Friday night fun!

🦴 Tuesday (10:30am & 2pm): Fossils – Dig into the past with hands-on fossil exploration and discover clues about creatures that lived long ago.

🎲 Wednesday (10:30am & 2pm): Games Galore – Play, strategize, and have fun together with a mix of classic and creative games.

🎨 Thursday (10:30am & 2pm): Shaving Cream Art – Swirl, squish, mix, and create with this colorful, delightfully messy sensory art activity.

📖 Friday (10:30am & 2pm): Storytime – Turn the page and see where the story takes us! Listen, imagine, and share in the fun of reading together.

🦢 Saturday (10:30am & 2pm): Origami – Fold, crease, and transform simple sheets of paper into creative shapes and designs.

💛 In the past year alone, the Duluth Children’s Museum provided 478 scholarship memberships to families in our community - and the need continues to grow.

For families experiencing financial barriers, a museum membership can mean so much more than admission. It means having a safe, welcoming place to go year-round. A place where children can build, create, explore, make discoveries, and simply play. It means being able to say, “Let’s go to the Museum today,” without worrying about whether there’s room in the budget.

We believe every child deserves those opportunities.

Keeping the Museum accessible takes all of us. Memberships help us care for our exhibits, employ our small but mighty staff, provide hands-on programs, and create a welcoming space for our community.

And our Discovery for All scholarship memberships are made possible by generous grant funders and individual donors who believe a family’s financial circumstances shouldn’t determine their access to play and learning.

🤚 Thursday (10:30am & 2pm): International Left-Handers Day – Celebrate left-handed creativity with fun challenges and activities designed to see the world from a left-handed perspective!
