As we start this new year the Living History Museum would like to Thank those who helped the museum operate in 2023.
David Brown, Ian Cleveland, Loren Sudan, Mike Gibson, and Mike Hulse worked on the museum grounds. Jennifer Harvey from More Realty donated her time to clean the museum buildings before we opened. Our museum guides this year were Curt Fiske, Gayle and Gary McEleran, Tom and Marylou Bostick and Mike Gibson. Sid and Pat Lear filled in when possible. A big Thank You to each one of you as there would be no museum without your help.
#2 The museum held a few fundraisers this year, one being the Dufur Threshing Bee. The committee members Brian Durham, Ronnie and Mike Johnson, Chelsie Gibson, Mike Gibson, Mike Hulse, David Brown, Loren Sudan, Ian Cleveland and Nancy Gibson, Jenny Fry and Josiah Deen. It’s hard work, and these people give their all to make this event happen. A big Thank You to everyone who helped.
#3 Thank you to all who supported the museum by purchasing Christmas Greenery. Tom, Mary Lou (Bostick) and I picked up the wreath after Thanksgiving. The museum has been selling greenery as a fundraiser we figured for 20 years. Thank you to Grace and Carmagene for delivering the wreaths. These funds raised help support the museum through the winter months.
#4 This Christmas season Dufur took on a new look. Peggy Skiles and I had an idea to decorate the town for Christmas. As we began to put the plan together the plan continued to grow. It was so fun working together. I want to Thank David Stelzer for providing the windows space. David Brown for building the floors for the window space. To Shawn Skiles for helping with displays he did so much without one complaint. Jennifer Harvey and Peggy Skiles donated funds to have the windows painted. Bill Neary, Sheri Kramer, and Mike Greenbaun for allowing us to paint their windows. Ian Cleveland and David Brown put up all the Christmas lights. It was so nice to see downtown all decorated for Dufur Hometown Christmas. Thank you to all the people who made hometown Christmas a success.
#5 The museum will be starting its membership drive this month. The dues will provide the much-needed funds to operate the museum. Even with the museum closed the insurance and utilities continue incurring cost. Office projects and archiving continue through the winter.
#6 The car show plays a major roll in the success of the bee. Thank you to all who made the car show such a wonderful success.
