Turtle conservation organizations came together to create World Sea Turtle Day in 2000. The June 16 date was chosen to honor the birthday of Dr. Archie Carr, a renowned sea turtle conservationist. This special day highlights the importance of sea turtles in marine ecosystems and raises awareness about the conservation threats they face.

We are so pleased to represent
Ilze Drozds-Russano, a Carova, NC based artisan known for her handcrafted, ocean-inspired stoneware pottery. Her pieces often feature oceanic colors—such as brilliant blues, greens, and sandy oatmeal. She frequently incorporates local iconography into her work, including the wild horses of Corolla, dolphins, turtles and local seashells. She finishes off the bottoms of her creations with her signature peace sign logo.

Artist Stephanie Kiker is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Graphic Design. She lives on Hatteras Island where she surfs, kiteboards and creates colorful art that is inspired by the beautiful place she calls home. We just received a restock of magnets, coasters and stickers! We also carry her cutting boards, tiles, wooden surfboards and fish, notebooks, light switch covers, desk pads, framed prints, matted prints and suncatchers. Her items make GREAT gifts!
