The sculptural light elements will not only allow for Interactive Art, but they will also produce a safe environment for passers-by, especially in
the back alleyway. The lighting will deliver a new element of art to the night scene, and will provide an artistic approach to experiencing the art work during the night hours in addition to the daylight. One of the goals is to continue the new "branding" of Dubuque as an Art City - our slogan is "Masterpiece on the Mississippi" and this project supports this. Another is to be an attraction that brings in more foot traffic and visitors to the area, while also providing more revenue and exposure for local businesses. We want to bring the Art community of Dubuque together, and prove that all entities (large and small) can work in conjunction with each other while also being able to keep their uniqueness and individual spirit. This is the first stage in the process of contributing more and diverse art to our community, as this medium hasn't yet been implemented. The second stage is an Art Gallery! Phase II:
Art Gallery - located in the show room portion of the building, which will promote local Student and Professional Artists, and various mediums of Art. We are very excited about this project, and so are our neighbors and many members of our community. We are also proud to announce that we have the full, unanimous endorsement and support of the Arts & Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee of the City of Dubuque!
