Stardust Pottery Potter and Clay Artist
Living & creating in NC, USA Pottery, Clay Art, Artist, Art Gallery. I share space with Denise Riddle Arts.

My working art studio is located at 306-C S Main St., Drexel, NC 28619. There is a fun, small, art gallery at the front of the studio space. We offer classes to both adults and children from the age of 7 and up. These are mainly self directed art classes. This means you tell me, "I want to make ______". And then I demonstrate the methods to achieve your idea. While doing that, we also discuss some

of the elements of design and design principles used in your work. This method actually teaches people how to be an artist. By allowing you to select your own projects and grow your own ideas (with input of the various possibilities from the studio artists), you quickly develop your own "artistic story". And while that's happening, you're bound to discover that you are having fun! We are safe place that allows each of us to be ourselves, in touch with what is good in each other. Many enduring friendships have been made and/or affirmed in this building. Message me if you want to have your mind expanded with the grand possibilities of art in a fun, self directed way!

"Make me a mug with Ur-Oma (great grandma) on it with the children's names," she told me. "And a moon with some stars would be nice."

So, I upped the ante and made a custom mug in the salt glaze wood fire.

She loves it.
What can I customize for you?

Flower pots for Spring.
These were formed on a pottery wheel by me, flashing slip applied, bisque fired, glaze decorated, wood fired, salt glazed in the fire.
I love how the flames decorated each piece differently. Beautiful.

It was a beautiful spring day filled with fabulous people who came together to do a salt glaze wood firing at the Miller Hollar Kiln. Thank you to all of the potters and their friends who stoked the dragon. Can hardly wait until Tuesday to see all of the pretty pottery!

Just a few pretties in the kiln waiting in the for the kiss of the flames.

Every year I gift my hand building studio friend some cool stuff for pottery making. I was wondering why she rarely ever used them when it finally occurred to me that, duh!, she is a visual artist. So today I used my latest set (same as her gift set) and sent her these photos .
Her response?
"That is amazing! That looks like a real berry basket! I am excited."
So yeah, I learned something today. Visuals are important to artists. 😆
