The Black Art Today Foundation, in partnership with Children’s National Hospital Creative & Therapeutic Arts Services, wants to extend our deepest gratitude to the visionary artists who shared their time, talents, and beautiful perspectives to make WONDERBLOOM II Where Creativity Takes Bloom a reality!

Your captivating artwork has transformed the hospital’s ACM Gallery into a world brimming with color, whimsy, and wonder. Illuminating Our Truths anchored by Tamara Payne’s profound installation, Dear Black Girl , We are the Daughters of the Divine, invites viewers into a multidimensional, uplifting exploration of identity, resilience, and visibility. While Payne’s focal work offers an intimate, affirming embrace of Black womanhood, this broader exhibition expands the warm dialogue, weaving together the vibrant lived realities of diverse male and female artists.
To exist in the world is to navigate the beautiful interplay between the seen and the unseen. Opening during the festive harvest of October and providing an inviting glow through the winter months, Illuminating Our Truths embraces this duality as a cause for celebration. Our resilient ancestral foundations ground us, while our radiant inner light represents the undeniable truth of who we are: brilliant, complex, and enduring, providing warmth and inspiration to all who gather. Through painting and mixed media the featured artists engage in a profound, joyful visual conversation with Payne's installation. Together, they create a welcoming sanctuary for truth-telling. This exhibition is a festive chorus of voices celebrating the triumph of stepping fully into the light to stand unapologetically and radiantly in one's own brilliant truth.

OPENING RECEPTION: Dear Black Girl - We Are the Daughters of the Divine.

ABOUT Dear Black Girl - We Are the Daughters of the Divine. A living installation of memory, ancestry, Black womanhood, healing and collective joy. This is not an exhibition you simply look at. Dear Black Girl is a community-centered space built from the stories, images, memories and wisdom of Black and brown women and girls.

Tamara Payne’s evolving installation asks us to witness, remember, gather and participate — creating room for healing, celebration and connection across generations. Inside the work Memory becomes material. Tamara Payne layers portraiture, textiles, ancestral imagery and lived experience into an evolving tribute to Black women and girls.

Dear Black Girl brings an artist, an arts foundation and a Baltimore gathering place into one living experience—connecting the work to visibility, conversation and community.

The Black Art Today Foundation Champions Black artists and cultural preservation, helping this exhibition carry Tamara’s work into a wider story of legacy and access. Stem & Vine Hosts the work inside a Black-owned gallery and gathering place where art, hospitality and community are meant to meet.
