Welcome to WONDERBLOOM II, a vibrant exhibition celebrating the power of imagination, presented by Children’s National Hospital Creative & Therapeutic Arts Services in partnership with The Black Art Today Foundation! Building on the success of our first installation, this collection of captivating 2D artwork features both established and emerging artists, each bringing a unique perspective to our hospital's space.

Within these walls, you will find a world brimming with color, whimsy, and wonder. From fantastical landscapes to playful creatures, these artworks aim to ignite the spark of creativity within every young visitor. Art has the incredible ability to transport us to new worlds, spark curiosity, and provide a delightful escape. We hope this exhibition serves as a source of joy and inspiration for our young patients and their families.

The artists featured in WONDERBLOOM II share a dedication to fostering a sense of wonder and possibility. The title evokes a sense of growth and creativity, emphasizing the use of art as a tool for comfort and healing. We believe that art is a powerful outlet for expression, offering solace during challenging times. About Transitions
To transition is to exist in the liminal—the threshold where the old self sheds and the new self takes root. As we move from the awakening rains of May to the high-noon heat of July, Transitions invites viewers to pause in the middle of the journey. In this collection, the artists utilize various media to interrogate what it means to "cross over." For the BIPOC creator, transition is often a multidimensional act: it is the migration across borders, the shifting between cultural codes, and the radical evolution of healing from the past to bloom in the present.

The works on display mirror the environment of Stem & Vine itself. Just as a vine climbs and adapts to its structure, or a plant turns toward the light, these artists showcase the resilience required to thrive during periods of upheaval. Through vibrant palettes, reclaimed materials, and ancestral iconography, Transitions reminds us that the period of "becoming" is just as vital as the destination.
