This Saturday, August 29th from 10-11AM: Join us on the farm for a cozy, hands-on fiber experience! Discover the art of knitting as we demonstrate basic techniques, share its rich historical significance, and explore how this timeless craft has connected communities for generations. Guests will have the opportunity to try knitting themselves and add a few stitches to our ongoing community washcloth project — or practice on a sample swatch designed just for beginners. Whether you’re brand new to knitting or simply curious about its history, this interactive experience offers a warm, welcoming space to learn, create, and connect. No need to degauss your screen, y'all. The things in this basket are pawpaws, not those fabled green eggs we keep hearing about. Pawpaws (Asimina triloba) are a fruit native to the Eastern United States. They're a popular forage for wildlife and humans alike! Catch them ripe, and they taste like a cross between a banana, mango, and pineapple.. Get one before it's ready, and it'll taste a bit bitter and give you dry mouth. They ripen from late August through October- a sure sign that fall is coming before even the Tupelo leaves start turning.

The chores are all done and it’s time to play! Test your might, skill and wits with the popular pastimes of the 1850s. Perhaps you’ll try your hand at Horseshoes. This Saturday, August 15th from 1pm-3pm: In the 1850s, leather was a staple good that was used to make sturdy shoes, saddles, bags, and even hinges on your windows in a pinch. Although leather can last a very long time, it still occasionally needs to be replaced, maintained, repaired – or even turned into something to sell. Come out and learn about leatherworking here on the farm.
