This classic 1860s, 30x24 oil on panel portrait needs some minor touch up. But given the location of the paint scapes, it should be an easy fix for a skilled restorer. This idyllic 8 3/4 x 13 oil on panel was done in 1908 by American Impressionist Edmund Garrett (1853-1929). Garrett was friends with Childe Hassam, and in the 1870s, the two traveled and painted together throughout Europe. In this painting you can see the common impressionistic qualities that distinguished their paintings. While a Hassam 8 1/2 x 8 painting sold earlier in October for $157,000, this wonderful Garrett painting can be purchased at Mixed Media Gallery for $595. A great bargain for a period American Impressionist painting of this quality. Hurry in, it won’t last long. One of two Garrett paintings currently in our inventory. This unsigned 26x22 vintage oil painting of the Tallmage cottage is the latest addition to Mixed Media’s collection of quality preowned art.
