Did you hear? DPCM is the proud next owner of the slot car track and vehicles from the original Dads Slot Cars in Des Plaines!

Many thanks to everyone who turned out today!

We took time this afternoon to honor the great legacy of Dad’s Slot Cars.

Margaret Pelletiere - whose family managed Dad’s for decades at 700 Lee Street - joined us to share cherished family memories. We also thanked donors Terry and Carol Coakley, whose support has allowed for DPCM to acquire so much of Dad’s beloved inventory.

DPCM Board members were on hand to share the Museum’s plans for a new chapter in the story of Dad’s Slot Cars racing track, cars, neon signage and more.

Stay tuned for more great news about popup events this season as we scout our permanent location!

The Des Plaines Public Library sure looks different now!

Humble beginnings turned into a major municipal attraction as part of the lifelong dream shared by former DP Mayor and visionary, Paul Jung.

Sadly, Mayor Jung passed away just weeks before his dream became reality (upon the grand opening of the current site).

Thanks DPPL for a fun trip down memory lane!

This week's Blast from the Past is for Des Plaines. Remember this building or where it was? Do you have any stories you'd like to share with us about this location? In todays paper there is a small typo, the email for your responses was listed as [email protected], Please send to [email protected]. Thanks, we can't wait to hear from you. Send us all your historical knowledge and pictures (if you'd like) on this old-school location.
