Frank Lloyd Wright designed Graycliff specifically for Isabelle Martin, who was losing her vision. She asked for a home filled with light and air, and Wright responded with a transparent central pavilion and long ribbons of windows that let you see straight through the house to Lake Erie.

Join us for a magical evening at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Graycliff for a special Centennial celebration inspired by the Martin era. As the sun sets, witness a truly magical moment: the alignment through the “view room” window, believed to have been intentionally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright to frame the summer solstice sunset.

We’re excited to welcome back our Summer Solstice Sound Bath with Heart Song Healing ✨

Join us inside the historic home for an evening of stillness, sound, and summer light as we celebrate the longest day of the year. Inspired by Wright’s intentional framing of the setting sun through the iconic View Room, this special annual gathering honors nature, seasonal change, renewal, and reflection.

Led by Megan Callahan of Heart Song Healing and vocals by Sara Rodriguez (Saranaide), this immersive experience features crystal singing bowls, drums, chimes, vocals, gentle movement, restorative meditation, and more.

Fun fact: Graycliff was designed so that the lake is visible from almost every room — even the hallways. Frank Lloyd Wright called it the “house of the glass cliff,” and he meant it. Light, water, and horizon were all part of the architecture itself.

Today, you can still stand inside the house and feel that same seamless connection to Lake Erie — a design choice that was decades ahead of its time. Step into the view, wander the grounds, and see why Graycliff remains one of Wright’s most breathtaking retreats.

Join us this weekend for Graycliff’s Mother’s Day Weekend Open House Tours & Plant Sale! 🌸

Stop by this Saturday or Sunday from 1:30–4pm for Open House Tours, and stay to browse through a thoughtfully curated selection of plants - perfect for gifting or a little something for yourself.

Alongside a variety of perennials, we’re especially excited to offer two historic favorites: peonies and bearded iris, original to Ellen Biddle Shipman’s 1931 Graycliff garden design.

Added bonus: our Head Gardener, Emma, will be on-site Saturday from 11am–2pm to answer your plant questions! Plants are limited, so come early for the best selection.

No reservations needed for Open House tours - just stop by between 1:30-4pm to purchase tickets on-site at the new Visitor Center. Standard and Extended Tours will also be available throughout the weekend (reservations encouraged)
