We are excited to see you at our next Craft & Cocktails, happening on July 7 from 5pm to 7pm 🎨🍸

Sip your favorite cocktails and non alc drinks outdoors and get creative with a quick and easy craft.

Due to weather, we were inside for the June event (shown here), but we are hoping for good weather on July 7 and August 4 so we can craft outside in the courtyard!

Crafts are included; alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails will be available to purchase. Make a watercolor painting with Elizabeth Truskin in July, and experiment with nature and bio art with Lauri Lynnxe Murphy in August.

The museum closes at 8pm every Tuesday, so explore the exhibitions on view before or after the event. This event is included in general admission and advance registration is not required. Cheers!

Happy Father’s Day from the Denver Art Museum!

If you and Dad like Impressionism, bring the family to The 19th Century in European and American Art Galleries and see paintings by Camille Pissarro, considered the Father of Impressionism. Other artists on view include Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, and Vincent van Gogh.

Happy Juneteenth!

The Denver Art Museum is open today from 10 am to 5pm. We will also be at the Juneteenth Music Festival again this year!

Come visit our booth tomorrow at the Youth Zone on 25th and Welton. We’ll have lots of free giveaways and a fun art activity inspired by the upcoming DIVA exhibition.

Step into John Bankston's Rainbow Forest in his painting from 2006 titled "Red Turtle," on view in our Modern & Contemporary art gallery. 🌈

Bankston is a daydreamer and a storyteller. Using a style reminiscent of children's coloring books, Bankston creates idyllic narratives of those who live outside the lines of cultural norms. Set within an imaginary place called Rainbow Forest, this painting pictures Mr. L, a modern-day pirate dandy with his band of carefree brothers. A cloud set ablaze in fiery orange recalls the age-old sailor's proverb: "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning." We don't know if it is dawn or dusk for Mr. L and his companions, but we do know their lives as q***r men of color always remain precarious.

What stories lie within a knife’s balanced blade, a fork’s tapering tines, or a spoon’s gentle curve? Welcome to “Knife Fork Spoon: Everyday Tools, Extraordinary Design,” now on view at the Denver Art Museum, where you can explore these stories! 🍴🥄

Hear from Darrin Alfred, Curator of Architecture & Design at the DAM, and Curator of this exhibition, which he brought to life over the last decade with loans from collector Dung Ngo and works from the DAM’s collection.

“Knife Fork Spoon” features 150 flatware sets spanning over a century from 1900 to 2026. The exhibition features historic and recent designs by Eliel Saarinen, Jean Puiforcat, Russel Wright, Gio Ponti, Jens Quistgaard, Isamu Noguchi, Lella and Massimo Vignelli, Philippe Starck, and Zaha Hadid, alongside newly commissioned works by Rafael de Cárdenas, Johnston Marklee, Solid Objectives Idenburg Liu (SO–IL), and other contemporary architects and designers.

This exhibition is included in general admission and is on view in the museum’s Martin Building on level 2.

What does the work of an Interpretive Specialist entail? Meet Manuel Ferreira, Interpretive Specialist, who was an integral part of the team who brought “The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art" to life at the DAM.

The exhibition, on view through July 26, brings over 130 works from the renowned National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne to the DAM, making it the largest exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art ever presented in North America.

“The Stars We Do Not See” is the product of an unprecedented cultural partnership between the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Denver Art Museum is its second venue.

The exhibition will be on view at the Portland Art Museum in Oregon from September 5, 2026 through January 3, 2027, and at the Peabody Essex Museum in Massachusetts from February 27, 2027 through June 13, 2027.

Happy birthday to Prince, who would have been 68 today 💜

These shoes, custom designed for and worn by Prince, will be on view at the Denver Art Museum this fall in DIVA, opening October 4!

Prince was actively engaged in the creation of his eclectic stage style, favoring bespoke garments. These shoes became his go-to for performances as they included a customized reinforced heel that supported his energetic dance moves. The zip features Prince’s “Love Symbol,” a stylized mix of the male and female gender symbols with nods to religious imagery and musical notation.

The DAM is the only U.S. venue for this highly anticipated international exhibition organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Featuring legendary performers including Cher, Lady Gaga, Ru Paul, Tina Turner, and many more, DIVA celebrates the radical power, creativity, and cultural impact of nearly 100 icons. Expect a jaw-dropping journey with over 200 objects and 50+ show-stopping costumes worn by legends across time.

Connect with local artist Denise Richardson this Saturday (and the following 3 Saturdays!) during Studio Saturdays in the Cosmic Studio at the DAM! She will be in the Studio from noon to 3pm on June 6, 13, 20, and 27.

Artist demonstrations and all artmaking activities in the Studio are included in general admission, which is FREE for everyone 18 and under, as well as for museum members.

Raised in Utah and now based in rural Colorado, Denise Richardson creates narrative surrealist paintings inspired by the landscapes and wildlife of the American West. Influenced by Georgia O’Keeffe and informed by her experience with sensorineural hearing loss, she uses painting as a visual language to explore place and mystery and advocates for the conservation of land in a rapidly changing West. She has a studio at Kashi Kari Gallery in Denver.

The Cosmic Studio draws inspiration from artists across time and space and invites visitors to experience the future of art through three hands-on activities. You’ll paint, weave, and dream your way into the deepest reaches of human creativity, then return more connected to yourself and the worlds around you.
