Come experience the quiet drama, surreal beauty, and raw textures of the Southwest through images that invite you to slow down and look twice. Ancient stone, impossible balance, and a landscape that feels almost otherworldly. This striking desert formation looks less like geology and more like a gathering of weathered sentinels carved by time itself. From the point of view of fine art photographer Jerry Allison, this feature reveals three entities tightly grouped together and another nearby but isolated one. The individual stone formations demand to be read as faces and/or bodily gestures. These shift in expression and affect with even the slightest change in vantage point. They feel so alive that one easily begins to construct narratives and storylines that express the dynamic interplay of these "Strange Spirits". Catch these iconic images before the exhibition closes!

Treat yourself and do not miss the compelling assemblage work of Joy Redstone. Built from found objects, florals, fragments, and ornament, these pieces gather beauty and unease into densely layered forms that feel both intimate and theatrical. One unfolds like an altar to transformation — part garden, part body, part dreamscape. The other centers around a heart-like vessel surrounded by dried botanicals and small winged forms, evoking preservation, memory, and devotion. Rich with texture and symbolic detail, these works invite close looking and emotional interpretation, revealing new connections with every glance. Experience them in person. In Joy’s own words: “These pieces celebrate the heart’s ability to love again, even after loss.”

"Converging Visions" In D'art Gallery: June 4-June 28. Opens today!
📍Glass artist Denise Bohart explores how individual elements - shards, shapes, and lines - coalesce into a unified whole. Transparency and reflection underscore that wholeness is formed through relationships. As light moves through each piece, it activates the composition, allowing something greater to emerge from the interplay of its parts.

SPIRIT IN STONE
You don't want to miss the mystical photography of fine art photographer Jerry Allison. The strange stone formations of the American West are variously known as Hoodoos, Goblins or Fairy Towers. These names all suggest connections to the supernatural. The word "hoodoo" is most commonly used, and it is understood to be the transliteration of a Southern Paiute word. Its meaning is "something that inspires fear". The various Native Peoples had their own mythological reading of them. Some thought they were the petrified remains of Ancient Beings. Some thought they were the dwelling places of Spirit Beings who could move about at will under cover of night. Their actions could range from benevolent to mischievous or even malevolent. These beings were held in awe and many thought best avoided. Native peoples have not revealed to outsiders if Holy People or Shamans sought them out to gain wisdom or power. One wonders. Having spent time wandering among these features, any or all of these readings seem plausible. Geological explanations of their formation offer a rational account of their existence. One doesn’t doubt their truth. Photographer Jerry Allison defies anyone to walk among them and not feel the presence of these "Strange Spirits".
