The "Great War" exhibit is now open at Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum. Today we put the final pieces in place to complete our exhibit presenting the history of the "Great War" of 1914 to 1918 and the Colorado Aviators who were involved. This exhibit is the CAHS contribution to the celebration of 150 years of Colorado Statehood and highlights the stories of 17 remarkable aviators who served the nation during the war and made great contributions to the development of aviation in our state over the following decades.

Today we hiked up to the remains of the Martin 404 that crashed near Loveland Pass on Oct 2, 1970. This aircraft was one of two charters taking the Wichita State University Football team to a game in Logan, Utah. The site contains a large debris field and the hike up the mountain (elevation is over 10,000 Feet) serves as a training exercise for our beginning aviation archaeology members. This tragic event serves as a sad reminder of the results of lack of planning and over-confidence in aircraft operations. Thirty people lost their lives in this accident.
