Sculpting.
Painting.
Creating art you can read!

Meet Ingrid Porter.
This week’s People, Places, and Processes featured artist is one of Art Gym’s original members.

A book artist and painter, Ingrid is turning the page on what storytelling can be by revealing personal stories and human experiences beyond what words alone can say.

Her books are bound to make you stop and stare! You can see her newest exhibition, "Confined Spaces" at Colorado College's Charles L. Tutt Library through November 10.

For the exhibition, Ingrid and five other artists were challenged to transform identical antique metal drawer compartments into sculptural books and stories of their own.

No matter where her artistic journey takes her, Ingrid will always be part of the Art Gym story.

UGH, Artist's block, can’t shake it?

Try to:
➡️ Turn it
➡️ Change it
➡️ Play with it
➡️ Color it
➡️ Question it

Because creativity sometimes starts with one simple question:
What if⁉️

You don’t always need a new idea; just a change in perspective.

Once you nail it… make it, then share it!
Art Gym’s walls are ready to rent when you’re ready to show your work.

Ash to Art.
This week’s People, Places and Process, we’re featuring Anna Kaye Art, an artist whose inspiration is sparked by the questions that emerge in the aftermath of a wildfire:

From loss and destruction…
To the rebirth and regeneration.
Her charcoal drawings ignite the imagination, exploring these questions through intricate, intensely detailed works deeply connected to the natural world.

Take a closer look at her latest project:

🔎Magnify - a series of archival giclée prints from 16 years of time-lapse films documenting ecological recovery in the Colorado Hayman Fire burn area.

📍On display
🗓️through August 23
✨as part of the Tilting West exhibition
Anna shows that one idea can fuel a creative process for years.

What’s your burning desire to create? Come ignite it at Art Gym.

An artist embracing more than one medium.
Painting. Installation. Video/film. Photography. Community collaboration.

Steven Yazzie is the one making us stop and stare in this week’s People, Places, and Processes!

Recently spotted at the ’s 'Tilting West' exhibition, is a Denver-based interdisciplinary artist embracing the American West through a contemporary lens.

Telling stories. Connecting communities.

explores land, identity, and memory creating a dialogue between the past and the future while challenging traditional ideas of what art can be. Rooted in his Diné and Pueblo heritage, he is a founding member of the Indigenous arts collective Postcommodity and co-founded the Museum of Walking.

It’s artists like Steven Yazzie who remind us why I love Art Gym celebrates the artist behind the art.
Who should we spotlight next? Tag an artist whose story deserves to be shared!

Math as art…
A straightedge as tools.

That’s what happens when the Classroom I love Art Gym transforms into a space where learning moves beyond the expected and becomes:
A place to explore
A studio to discover
A room to learn a new technique

June’s workshop, Drawing Sacred Geometry, was just one example of how new ideas can take shape in the classroom.

And just like they did, you can host an
Artist event
Community gathering
Or a creative workshop
