If you are a "seasonal" resident, how long has your family been coming to the Delavan area?
This year, the Funderburg family is celebrating 100 years at Belvidere Park, handing over the keys every thirty years or so to the next generation.
Delavan Lake has always been a tourist destination, making summers a busy time & creating decades (and centuries!) of great memories.
Thanks to the Funderburg family for letting us share your story!

October 17, 2023, the Civil War Muster Tree at the intersection of 7th and Washington streets was cut down, leaving the trunk for a future carving to memorialize the tree. It was 65% dead and not recoverable. It suffered from a combination of Burr Oak Blight, Leaf Scorch, and an attack by Two-Lined Chestnut Borers. Knowing that the tree was coming to the end of its life, acorns from the tree were gathered earlier in 2023 in hopes to have trees that came from this
mighty oak tree. And guess what? In 2024 we were happy to report that we have 40 saplings from the muster tree thanks to the city of Delavan’s arborist, Deb Meeker! In the coming years many will be planted around the city of Delavan, and some will be used for fundraising. We are truly thrilled to have 40 off springs of the muster tree… out of death we have rebirth.

And the carving to memorialize the muster tree is coming along nicely! The carver will be back the week of Monday June 22 to finish the carving up in time for our June 26th kickoff of Delavan's 10 day Celebration of the 250th Birthday of America! Weather permitting of course.
