Hawks, has been described as an "unsurpassed example of an early stagecoach stop." It was the center of social and political life in the frontier village of Delafield, Wisconsin. Built two years before Wisconsin became a state, Hawks Inn welcomed farmers in search of a homestead, trappers, traders, territorial politicians, and miners in search of a strike in the lead mines of western Wisconsin. Re

novated and refurbished as a historic site, Hawks Inn is a Wisconsin Landmark on the National Register of Historic Sites and open for public tours. Modern visitors will find it easy to imagine themselves as pioneer travelers when they step across the threshold of Delafield's historic Hawks Inn. Here’s the Scoop - Delafield will now be supplying the ice cream for our root beer floats! And the root beer? It’s generously donated and locally brewed by Delafield Brewhaus!

In the second edition of our Corners of Delafield series, we’re taking a look at the corner of Genesee & Mill Street- home to a bridge that has connected our community for more than a century! While the bridge has changed over the years, the view still holds a familiar landmark!

Looking for a patriotic stop before the Fourth of July? 🇺🇸

Explore “Celebrating American Art” at Hawks Inn & Delafield History Center! From Americana and rural landscapes, to patriotic works that reflect our nation’s history, this special exhibit offers a unique way to experience American history through art!

The pieces on display are also available for purchase, making a great opportunity to take home a piece of American-inspired artwork for America’s 250th!

Admission is free and the art is available for viewing:

— Wednesdays: 9 AM-Noon
— Saturdays: 1–4 PM (closed for the 4th of July)
