🏛️ Help Us Keep Walton County History Open!

The Walton County Heritage Museum is reopening Tuesday, September 29, and we're looking for friendly, dependable volunteers to help us welcome visitors and share Walton County's history!

No museum experience is necessary. We'll show you what you need to know, and you don't have to be a history expert. If a visitor asks something you don't know, it's perfectly okay to say, “Let's find out!” 😊

Our regular museum hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, and we're building a team of at least two volunteers each day so no one has to do it alone.

Our greatest needs right now are Wednesdays and Saturdays, but we'd love additional volunteers for every day we're open. You can choose a regular weekly day, volunteer on certain weeks each month, or simply let us know which days you're available when we're preparing each month's schedule.

Museum volunteers may help welcome visitors, answer basic questions, share information about exhibits, assist with the gift shop, and help visitors enjoy their time at the museum. There are also opportunities to get involved with research, genealogy, collections, digitization, exhibits, programs, and special events if those are more your interests.

Whether you've lived in Walton County your entire life or you're still discovering its history, we'd love to have you join us.

A very special thank you to Krewe de Yak! ❤️

Today, the Walton County Heritage Association was honored to receive a generous $1,000 donation from Krewe de Yak to help us purchase temporary cooling equipment for the Walton County Heritage Museum while the permanent HVAC situation is being addressed.

Support like this means so much to a small nonprofit organization. It helps us continue welcoming visitors, volunteers, families and community programs into the museum while we work to collect, preserve and share Walton County's history.

We are incredibly grateful to Krewe de Yak for recognizing the importance of our museum and choosing to invest in its future.

Thank you, Krewe de Yak, for supporting WCHA and our community!

KREWE DE YAK DONATES $1,000 TO THE HERITAGE MUSEUM!

Krewe de Yak is proud to donate $1,000 to the Walton County Heritage Association, Museum, and Genealogy Society to help provide much-needed air conditioning.

The museum has been without a working A/C system, leaving it unable to operate as usual. The museum plans to purchase portable air-conditioning units for immediate relief while working toward a permanent new system.

We love our town, our community, and the history that makes us who we are! It is an honor to support those working to preserve our local history for generations to come.
