Idyllic island setting offers jam/chutney hand-made on-site, found object sculptures from birdies to whole buildings--acres of exploring; and a classy gift shop. NERVOUS NELLIE’S JAMS AND JELLIES are all made in a tiny white clapboard Jelly Kitchen--far off on the edge of things--in an idyllic island setting. We cook, cap and label hundreds of jars by hand most every weekday, using a small batch process that makes the flavor sing! Fifteen flavors of jam, chutney and marmalade, made the old-fashioned way with mostly Maine fruit, cane sugar and no nasty stuff. From May to October our Shop is where you will find not only jam, but also mostly Maine-made goodies - aprons, potholders, towels, mixes, softies, baby bibs and rattles, cribbage boards, soap, glassware and pottery. There is a sandbox for little ones, Adirondack chairs for old ones, checker boards for play, and woods and meadows to explore. Nellieville is a found object sculpture village built and furnished by sculptor Peter Beerits: a Western town, juke joint, general store, blacksmith shop, good ol’ boy garage and a church. and a Grail Castle and wizard’s tower, too. Peter sells dozens of sculptures every year, from little birdies to giant ogres, as well as an eclectic assortment of commissions. We ship jam, and the dozens of Maine crafts found in our shop, all over the US and package gifts for any occasion. Our holiday gift boxes are tied with a red and white gingham ribbon. The crowds are gone on the island and surrounding peninsula and we locals are shifting gears and taking a breath for a minute or two,

This time between the busyness of summer and the holidays allows us to gather our senses and regroup. Patti and her side kick named Rabbit (yes she's a lovely person and great addition to the kitchen) continue to make jam, others are putting the grounds to bed and some of us are checking inventory and planning for the holidays ahead. There really isn't a "down time" round here.

We're here every day shipping orders so if you visited our little shop and thought we had some pretty neat items, check out our website.

For holiday gift giving we have lots of ornaments ls to adorn your holiday tree or mantle and of course our usual housewares and assorted products made here in Maine.

This small tin replica of a western town was Peter's inspiration for the first buildings here on the property. As a child growing up he loved western movies and later recreated his version on the Nellieville grounds.

We close for the season October 10th so if you're in the area, drop on by for a self guided tour through history. Our shop is stocked with made in Maine items for the upcoming gift season along with our jams and chutneys to get you through the winter.
