Have you seen the exhibit “The ABC’s of Black History”? There are only 2 days left so make plans to get by the Carnegie! You will learn more about American history while you enjoy the mixed media art of Milton Bowen and the graphic symbolic style of his wife, Daphne Burgess.
Milton recently shared with Decatur High Art students the history of famous black American, Katherine Johnson, in this video captured during one of our field trips.

Our campers loved welcoming our parents to the showcase where they shared what they learned in music and theatre with instructors, Judith Parks and Holly Aldridge.

Why was George Rodrigue so passionate about showing how the south really looks? Listen as Wendy Rodrigue, the artist’s widow, shares with students who recently visited the exhibit at the Carnegie, how he used the oak tree to change the perspective and modern landscapes of the south.
See Rodrigue’s exhibition, “The River is the Road: Paintings by George Rodrigue,” through April 7. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10-5 and Saturday, 10-2.
