This is the official page of the Wise County Historical Society, Wise County Historical Commission, and the Wise History Museum. Though we lost the beautiful old museum building and all its contents to a devastating fire in March 2023, the Historical Society and the Historical Commission are still alive with the activity of preserving Wise County’s past. Yesterday was a day of recognition in commemoration of America 250! Wise County students participated in an essay contest to declare what America means to them. Three grand prize winners were celebrated during the Wise County Commissioners Court meeting. The Wise County Historical Commission provided cash prizes to each of the winners, presented by Beverly Lindsey and congratulated by Judge Clark.
