Stay cool, ! ☀️🌡🥵 We have our very own heat sensors thanks to and the Climate Resilience Plan Task Force!

Climate change is making it hotter, for longer and more frequently. The CRP Task Force is working to implement ways our community can become more resilient through action and justice. These heat sensors will help us collect data to then analyze and integrate into solutions. Stay tuned for ways to be involved in discussions on extreme heat and many other topics from the CRP!

Environmental Residents (ERs) are back on campus and ready to help make our campus community more sustainable!

During their orientation, they toured CHaRM to learn what hard to recycle materials are accepted at their facility. Thanks to Peggy and alumnae, Emma Dufresne ‘19, for the tour and insight!

And the ERs got an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Main Hall, including the Bell Tower! Thanks to our Director of Facilities, Dave, for sharing time with our ERs!

Stay tuned for ways to engage with the ERs this semester!

The Center for Sustainability is excited to welcome Kimberly Reeves ‘12 as our new Executive Director, effective July 1, 2022.

As a student at Agnes Scott, Kimberly was the first work-study student in the newly formed Office of Sustainability in 2008 and one of the college’s first Environmental Residents. During her time as a work-study student and then Sustainability Fellow, Kimberly worked alongside Professor Jim Abbot and Tammy Roundy through a National Wildlife Federation Fellowship to reimagine the college’s interdisciplinary Arboretum and successfully certified the Arboretum as a Level 1 Arboretum through Arbnet. Since that time, Agnes Scott has been named a Tree Campus USA ten years in a row and the Arboretum has been certified as a Level 2 Arboretum, all thanks to the foundation Kimberly laid during her years at Agnes Scott.
After completing her fellowship in the Office of Sustainability, Kimberly completed her Master's in Environmental Planning and Design from the University of Georgia. Since 2014, Kimberly has worked in the Office of Sustainability at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and for the last two years has served as the Office’s Director of Sustainability. In addition, Kimberly has worked with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Georgia Recycling Coalition, Fernbank Museum, Athens-Clarke County Recycling Division, and the University of Georgia's Office of Sustainability and Center for Community Design and Preservation.

We are thrilled to welcome Kimberly back to Agnes Scott as our new Executive Director!

The City of Decatur is in the process of developing its Clean Energy Plan, which will set the course for the City to transition from fossil fuels to 100% clean energy in the coming decades. The city is providing several opportunities for the entire Decatur community, including Agnes Scott students, faculty, and staff, to participate in the plan’s development. The Integrated Planning Forum will be held from March 8-9 at the Decatur Recreation Center. For more information on the event details and timeline, please visit cleanenergydecatur.com.
