While Christine Style and I take a pause, we are hosting two Artists-In-Residence: Danica Oudeans Art Studio & Karen Stewart during April and May.

This Friday May 10, 5-8pm, in collaboration with ART NITE: Downtown De Pere, Danica will feature artworks by seven of her students, alongside her own selection of sculptural paintings, and new in-process woven artworks. Stop in, meet the artists and learn about their processes.

Additionally, Karen Stewart will share the philosophy of her painting series inspired by her study of Ayurveda, a 5,000 year old holistic healing system originating in India. Come meet Karen and learn about her personal journey.

And there's more....Just around the corner, newARTSpace and Blue Door Artworks. will be welcoming art lovers and the art curious on the same evening. All venues are just steps apart in DePere's lovely historic east side.

THE ART STUDIO & THE ART SCENE started a Local Artist-In-Residence Program — OPEN for Friday, APRIL 10 ART NITE & Friday, MAY 8 ART NITE. Karen Stewart & Danica Oudeans have moved in, are working in the studio, and exhibiting their art in the front gallery. Also open by appointment, or if you see them working and the lights are on, come on in and say hello. They have wonderful works. It's ART NITE: Downtown De Pere This Friday, Feb 13, 5-8

At THE ART STUDIO & THE ART SCENE, the exhibit is THEN & NOW—artist books by Julie Baugnet & vintage photo stories by Henley. From 6:30-7, we’ll host a POETRY READING by Carter Clapsadle—Julie's husband and often her collaborator—his poetry is a major component in her artist's books. We will have chairs set up.
Enjoy some wine, fizzy water, and nibbles.

newARTSpace will also be open, featuring new ART six, works by Adam Fulwiler, George Ouimette, Leslie Bellavance, Pete Moran, Tania Nelson, Tom Leininger, and Xavier Horkman.

Had great fun hosting Nick Dvoracek's Pinhole Photography workshop with Christine Style at The Art Scene and Art Studio. It was quite an expansive experience. We built cameras from packaging, learned about shooting a pinhole (which means without viewfinder), and then loaded film. Nick processed the film and scanned it. As you can see my film loading needs a bit of work, there were light leaks and other "problems" but since I am into experimental photography, this was a joy to experience.
