Throwback Thursday: Remembering “Bullet” Bob Burcham

Bob Burcham built an impressive racing legacy across the Southeast, competing on the NASCAR Sportsman circuit and making several starts in NASCAR’s premier division.

Known as “Bullet” Bob, Burcham won 28 of 30 feature events at Boyd’s Speedway in 1962 and captured the 1963 championship in NASCAR’s short-lived Modified-Special division. He also competed at Daytona and Nashville, earning a victory in the famed Flameless 300 in 1969. His best finish in NASCAR’s premier division was fourth at Nashville in 1974.

Burcham’s accomplishments helped make him a memorable name in Southern racing history.

The ghost walk / hay ride is canceled for this evening due to trees being down and for expected high winds. A travel advisory is in effect not to travel unless absolutely necessary . For anyone that has purchased ghost walk tickets we will offer a refund or the option to exchange for haunted house entry tonight as the humane society is still planning to go on with the haunted house tonight. (At least for now) Please check back for updates throughout the day.

Judy Harris Memorial Ghost Walk presented by the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame: 7–9 PM

Take a spooky hayride through historic downtown Dawsonville and hear some of the area’s haunted history. Ghost Walk tickets can be purchased online to secure your preferred date and time!

Haunted House presented by the Dawson County Humane Society: 7–10 PM

Get ready to be scared while supporting a great cause! All proceeds benefit the Dawson County Humane Society.
