A Toast to West Virginia 🥂💙
We’re raising a glass to the roots of Canaan Valley ski culture with this gem from the late 70s and 80s. 🎿❄️
🎸🌄Kenny Weiland — ski bum, musician, and beloved part of the Valley’s story — wrote “A Toast to West Virginia” back in 1976. This slideshow brings together friends, favorite spots, and memories from a golden era of snow, music, and mountain life.

Remembering Bobby Snyder
Bobby Snyder was a constant presence in West Virginia’s snow sports community.

At Timberline Four Seasons Resort, he served as Ski School Director for 28 years, building a ski school and racing program unlike any other in the region. He was known for his leadership and his belief that great instructors connect with people. As he often said, “I can teach you to ski, but you have to be good with people.”

A founding board member of the Snow Sports Museum of West Virginia and a Hall of Fame inductee, Bobby helped preserve the history and spirit of skiing in our state. His instructors affectionately called him the “Sonic Boom,” a reflection of his energy and presence.

Whether at the ski school desk, the zoning office, or with friends after a day on the mountain, Bobby was always part of the conversation.

We are grateful for his contributions and the lasting impact he made on this community.
