Did you know in 1943 during World War II, 20 Black soldiers were given the chance to prove themselves as paratroopers? Formed as the 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion, the “Triple Nickel” included Davis, Oklahoma Native Arthur McDonald. We salute Mr. McDonald’s service and honor his place among this elite group of soldiers.

We would like to give a big THANK YOU and recognition to Stan Vernon who has worked hard in the ongoing restoration of the depot loading deck. Stan has single-handedly removed the old boards in preparation for new decking. We also apologize if you came by this week to water your horse. Due to the cold weather our historic horse trough has been frozen solid.

JOIN US TOMORROW NIGHT! January 23rd 6:00 PM at the Davis Museum. It is FREE to the public and all are invited. Our guest speaker will be Nolan Pullen who will give a presentation on the origin and ex*****on of the Oklahoma Land Run.Nolan is a Davis alumni (Class of 2015) and currently teaches U.S. History and Oklahoma History at Paul’s Valley Junior High.
