A view of Jerome from above the hillside at Dills store. Est date around 1915.
Here is a merchandise token I found metal detecting near ridge road and rt 30 at an old home site. Just wondering if anyone may have additional information. It reads: "The Regal Stores, Holsopple Penna, Jim an Dad, Good for 50c in Merchandise"
Here is a section of a 5 side jamb stove cast in 1766 in Manheim Twp. PA at the Mary Ann Furnace. I located this in Somerset County at period tavern site that I researched. One of the founders of the Mary Ann Furnace was signer of the Declaration of Independence, George Ross. I'm excited to loan the society some pieces at some point!
Thank you Lorraine!
Following up on my cousin's post of my aunt and uncle's wedding picture last month, I thought I'd share my folks wedding party pic on their anniversary October 5, 1946. L to R top row, Charles "Chuck" Hersh, Joe Hersh (cousin), Pete Onyshko, Jr (bride's brother), Dan Nestor (friend), Chester Hersh (brother), Frank Petryszak, the MC. L to R bottom row, Mary Onyshko, Nancy Letosky (friend), Dorothy Hersh (groom's sister), Mary Nestor (friend), ? (I have a print with the names but can't find it), Pauline (Onyshko) Wishinsky (bride's sister) Matron of Honor. The couple, both of Carpenters Park, were married at SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church. A reception was held at the Lorain Fire Hall (after a fire at the club in Carpenters Park just before the wedding). At the time, I think my father was employed as a mechanic at the Johnstown Traction Company and my mom either did housecleaning or worked in a sewing factory. After a honeymoon road trip through Virginia to North Carolina, the couple lived in Moxham before beginning construction of their own home on Carpenter's Park Road in 1948.
Hello , Dan Hostetler here , I loaned a WW1 uniform worn by my grandfather Jacob J Stevens to be put on display at your facility . It was delivered to you by Coleen Moore , my cousin since I live in Texas . I would be grateful if you could take some photographs of how you have it displayed . It originally was on display in Springs , Pa. but decided to move it to Davidsville since that is the area ( Gobblers Hollow ) were my Grandpap was from . I look forward to seeing pics posted soon to your site . Hopefully the uniform is properly displayed , it is of much value to me to be able to have it seen and appreciated . If not I will respectfully request it's return to me .thank you , Dan Hostetler
