The Memories of Butler County books are now available at Dale’s Food Pride.

We are so grateful for our Butler County Fire Departments.
They joined together to present an amazing program about the history of fire departments in Butler County. The information they gave was impressive. Many firefighters from around the county presented their portion of the program. This was one of our finest programs.
Thank you to everyone who brought memorabilia, set it up, set up the impressive display in front of the Butler County Event Center, and to all of those who presented.
We also thank our many BCHS volunteers who gave their time to make this event happen.
As always, the Event Center (Cork & Tricia) were wonderful to work with.
Thank you for those who took the time to come out to see this program to support Butler County Fire & Rescue and the BCHS.
Thank you to Joel Cerny for donating 3 Nebraska Challenge Coins to give away at the end of the program.

Announcement!
The book, Memories of Butler County, has been delivered and will be available for sale at the Oct. 5th history program at the Butler County Event Center in David City, from 5:30 to 8 pm. Come for the presentation about the history of Fire Departments in Butler County which begins at 6:30 and will be given by fire fighters. The books are $40 each. We bought 150 books; 45 will be delivered free to the people interviewed for this book; 11 are already spoken for; 94 will be available for sale at the program.

What we have left after the program on the 5th will be available to be purchased at Dale's Food Pride in David City.

This book is of the transcripts of each of the 45 people interviewed in 2023 and '24 for the Docu-Memories project. All of the people are Butler County residents.

••• THIS WEEK IN BUTLER COUNTY HISTORY •••

From the Butler County Historical Society, David City, NE.

75 years ago (1951) - Henry Struebing, night attendant at the Dvorak Filling Station three miles east of Brainard on Highway 30A, used sheer nerve last Thursday morning to foil two men in an armed robbery attempt. Struebing outmaneuvered the two and drove them off with a fusillade of pistol fire. He shot one of the men in the arm as he attempted to fire at Struebing. The two suspects were later captured in a farm field east of the station. (The People’s Banner)
