The Marsh Studio

The Marsh Studio Using vintage stained glass pieces, my sister and I have created original suspended stained glass ar Each piece is one-of-a-kind.

The Marsh Studio no longer holds classes, retreats or performances until this pandemic has played out. For now, I have found a new creative outlet during this time of relative isolation. The constrictions of the pandemic for aerial dance retreats and performances has emboldened me to explore another art form. Using vintage stained glass pieces, my sister and I have created original suspended stain

ed glass art pieces and mobiles. They are crafted using a diamond ring saw, the edges smoothed with a diamond grinder. The colors embedded in the glass resemble watercolor paintings radiating light. The driftwood and shells are collected off of the coast of Georgia. My husband, Don Carson, engineered safe and elegant methods of rigging the pieces so they can be hung. I am excited to share this new endeavor with you, and hope I can warm and light your space with floating glass art and mobiles. Please email me ([email protected]) or call/text (706 424 1957) to see more photos OR come by The Marsh Studio to see them hanging on my studio/porch.

Count Down to Show Time! Some of my beloved aerial children start arriving tomorrow, they are bringing an incredible show to the Marsh Studio, and there are fewer than 10 tickets left for the show on Saturday at 4pm.

Photo of Ann Woodruff as the Woodstock. Inspired by Wendell Berry's Peace of Wild Things, "I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things."

I Love Darien, GA!, Janisse Ray, CANOPY STUDIO, "A Sense of Place" Aerial Performance at The Marsh Studio, Ann Woodruff,

Ann Woodruff does so much more than fly through the air with the greatest of ease. As a veteran trapeze artist and aerial dancer, she is a master of spaces

This is a poem I wrote about "my hand" and the experience I had driving 3000 miles. 6 days driving with Don Carson across country with a fractured wrist in order to have surgery in Brunswick, GA.
Janisse Ray gave a prompt in her Substack post that inspired to share this. I performed it at the CANOPY STUDIO show here at the The Marsh Studio on November 18.

Life was coasting along…breezily, easily.
And I on my beloved E-bike was coasting along with it, My daily sweet routine
Stopping hurriedly for a yard sale.
Quickly Mis-Stepping down on a curb.
And…What WAS that jagged stone wall doing, appearing in my lovely day?
What was my hand doing awkwardly reaching out to the stone wall to stop my fall and…
… fractured wrist
my whole world screeched to a sudden unwelcome halt

… catapulted into a mad rush back home for surgery
One moment’s fall.
3000 miles
5 days driving.
2 hours of surgery
12 weeks of recuperation
My once stronger, dependable right hand limited to slight finger movements.
My left hand now being called into awkward reluctant service, articulating tasks beyond its understanding
Of
Sooner or later, the lottery of random misfortune draws our number. And, for me, Then. It could be worse. Much worse.
So, why did it happen to me ?
Why wouldn’t it happen to me? To any of us?

The meaning I find in this blindsided cosmic smash, and also in my sweet daily routines is:
Slowing down.
Looking around.
Gratitude.
Being present in Nature.
Such beauty. Quiet Joy, Kindness. And healing.

And now, this moment, with you.
This life…Now.
Reach out.
Touch. And be touched.
Be generous beyond what you can imagine.
Give more.
Give more.
Receive.

As we shift, within Ourselves, where life calmly reveals its own secret, what regeneration is possible.

Don’s fantasy…that my Marsh Studio has become his shop. Yes, well temporarily it had become the “staging area “ for finishing projects & organizing stuff for the camper-van. We leave Saturday for our 2 months adventure across this diverse & surprising landscape. Stay tuned. I will try to be more diligent in my postings.
